Volunteer Service Opportunities
Groups of all sizes are needed to help develop and maintain
the camp. Generally, the service opportunities at Heber Valley
Camp fall into three categories: Service Projects by Campers, Service
Projects by Other Groups, and Eagle Projects.
Service Projects by Campers
These service projects are to be completed during a group's stay at the camp. These
projects are limited to 40 people serving for one hour. In
most cases, all the equipment is provided by the camp. Projects include:
- Preparing the in-camp trails and covering them with wood
chips
- Planting new trees
- Grooming around buildings to plant grass

Service Projects by Other Groups
These service projects are primarily intended as service opportunities
for those not staying at the camp. Groups of all sizes are
invited to serve for an hour, an evening, or a day. Ward service
projects, youth conference activities, Elders Quorum projects,
and family service projects are ideal. Depending on the size
and make-up of the group and the type of project, the group may
be asked to provide some equipment. Projects include:
- Constructing cabins
- Preparing the in-camp trails and covering them with wood
chips
- Preparing campfire rings with bench seating
- Finishing work such as installing bunk ladders in cabins
- Putting together tables
- Planting trees
- Lining driveways and trails with logs
- Grooming around buildings to plant grass
Wards and stakes whose Young Women are assigned to Heber Valley Camp
will be invited to fulfill pre-arranged service project assignments
to help with the following:
- Cutting and stacking the timber that has fallen or been
cut near the camp
- Preparing the in-camp trails and covering them with wood
chips
- Lining driveways and trails with logs
- Grooming around buildings to plant grass
